Suntory Yamazaki Puncheon

Yamazaki Puncheon is a special release from this Suntory distillery. Aged in extra large casks containing around 480 litres of sprit instead of the standard 230 litre hogshead casks. The larger puncheon casks allow the whisky to mature at a slower rate and the result is quite a different flavour profile than we are typically used to from Yamazaki. Long slow reaction with the wood makes for a mellow spirit, although this release carries no age statement so it could well contain some younger whiskies too. Read more
