Kilkerran is the single malt whisky produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown. The distillery was originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, later closed in 1925, and was revived in the twenty-first century by J. & A. Mitchell & Co., the family-owned company also behind Springbank.

Although the distillery is Glengyle, the whisky is sold as Kilkerran, a name chosen because the Glengyle name had already been used elsewhere. Production is small by Scotch whisky standards and closely connected with Springbank, sharing a production team and retaining a notably traditional approach, with floor maltings carried out at Springbank and bottling handled in Campbeltown.

The Kilkerran range includes the 12 Year Old and 16 Year Old, alongside 8 Year Old Cask Strength releases and Heavily Peated batches. The house style is unmistakably Campbeltown: lightly smoky, oily and coastal, with notes of malt, citrus, orchard fruit, brine, vanilla, pepper and earthy spice. Cask-strength and heavily peated expressions add greater intensity, while sherry casks can bring darker fruit, chocolate and richer texture.

Kilkerran has become one of the most admired names in modern Campbeltown whisky because it feels both revived and deeply rooted. It offers the individuality of a small, traditional distillery without relying on nostalgia alone: characterful, coastal and increasingly sought after by drinkers who value substance over polish.
