Hammer Head Czech Whisky

Available for R 7 452

Hammer Head is one of the more unusual names in European whisky: a Czech single malt first developed at the Prádlo distillery in the final years of communist Czechoslovakia. Made from local barley and matured in Czech oak, it has drawn attention not only for its rarity but for its unusually strong sense of place and period. The upheavals of 1989 left stocks lying in cask for many years. After Stock Spirits acquired the business in 2007, those casks were rediscovered and gradually released under the Hammer Head name.

Hammer Head has appeared in various bottlings drawn from those long-forgotten stocks, including age-stated expressions released after Stock Spirits rediscovered the casks. The early commercial editions included a 20 Year Old for the Czech market and a 23 Year Old release, and subsequent bottlings extended to older expressions such as a 30 Year Old issued to mark the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.
